Privacy Policy

Percolate ("we", "our", or "the app") is a coffee shelf and cupping-log app for iOS, with a companion website at https://percolateapp.com. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and how to delete it — for both the app and the website.

1. Information We Collect

Account information. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your email and a unique identifier from the provider. Guest accounts store only an anonymous identifier with no personal information.

User-generated content. Shelf entries, cupping logs, ratings, flavor-quiz responses, taste-profile data, private notes, and community posts are stored in your account.

Device data. A device identifier and basic diagnostics (OS version, device model, app version) are collected to deliver core features and prevent abuse. We do not collect precise location.

Purchases. Percolate is free and does not sell anything in-app, so we do not process payments or collect payment details. When you follow a “Buy from” link to a roaster, your purchase is made on their site under their own terms.

2. How We Use Your Information

To run your shelf, cupping log, and taste profile.
To suggest coffees you already own based on roast, origin, process, and recent cups.
To sync your shelf and cupping history across devices.
To improve our taste-profile model using anonymized quiz and cupping data.
To connect you to roasters through outbound “Buy from” links.

3. Privacy Posture

Your shelf, cupping log, ratings, private notes, and taste profile are private by default. A rating becomes part of the community average only when you explicitly choose to publish it. We do not run cross-user advertising, and we do not sell personal information.

4. Third-Party Services

We rely on the following third parties to operate the app. Each receives only the data necessary for the service it provides:

Supabase — backend storage and authentication.
Apple / Google — sign-in.
PostHog — anonymous usage analytics.
Sentry — anonymous crash reporting.

5. Affiliate Link Tracking

When a coffee detail page links out to a roaster or specialty retailer, that site may set cookies or identifiers on the destination page that we have no control over. Percolate itself only records that an outbound click occurred — we do not pass your account identity to the roaster or retailer.

6. Data Retention

Your data is retained as long as your account is active. You may delete your account at any time from the Profile screen, which permanently removes all associated data including shelf entries, cupping logs, flavor-quiz history, taste profile, ratings, private notes, and community posts.

7. Your Rights

You may request a copy of your data, request correction or deletion, and withdraw consent at any time. California residents and EU users have additional rights under CCPA and GDPR respectively. Contact us using the address below.

8. Children's Privacy

Percolate is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

9. Data Security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored in secured, access-controlled databases. Authentication tokens are stored securely on your device. We follow industry-standard practices to protect your information.

10. How to Delete Your Account

You may delete your account in two ways:

In-app: Profile → Settings → Delete Account.
By email: if you cannot access the app, email support@percolateapp.com from your account email with the subject "Delete My Account". We will permanently remove your account within 7 days.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the app. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
